In early 2021 the site Parler, a site made as an alternative to Twitter, was attacked by various established individuals, calling the platform “alt-right” for simply allowing those who were censored on sites like Twitter and Facebook to have a voice.
The site’s servers were cut off and the listings for the application were removed from both the Google Play Store and Apple Stores following the “Controversy”.
Recently Parler was able to get its servers back online, and within the past few days were finally able to be reinstated on both Google and Apple’s Mobile App stores.
In a letter Apple’s App Review Team released on April 14th “Apple anticipates that the updated Parler app will become available immediately upon Parler releasing it.” when Parler submitted changes to reliance the App.
The App will be relaunched on April 26th, hopefully breathing back some life into the site as an alternative to Twitter and Facebook, one that hopefully doesn’t intend to silence voices for “Woke Points.”
Various journalists appear to be upset, saying the app will cause harm. Multiple times Parler has been shows to enforce their Terms of Service, yet various harmful messages and posts remain live on Twitter, posts that directly violate Twitters TOS but they refuse to take it down.
Only time will tell what will happen now that Parler is back in the limelight. Perhaps all the people driven away from Twitter will call Parler their new home.
